LAST POST OF 2007!!!!!! From -PR-

This is it people, the very last day of the year! We made it!!

Do you have any resolutions? What resolution did you make last year that you kept!?

Do you have any special projects in the works for the coming year?

I have a resolution and I didn't wait until NY to start it. I really must get back in shape. Over the last 18 months I've gained 25lbs and my fiance, 20...neither of us were ever this out of shape. That is priority one as we head into our 45th year on earth!

As I've mentioned before, this is the year I get down to the bottom of many a mystery surrounding my birth, my birth mother and hopefully I will find out if my adoptive dad was my real dad. WE LOOK A LIKE!!! hmmm..

And no more hibernating,...I've had my time off, now I work towards my career in voice over. Which means training and coaching and acting lessons.

I also am working towards getting my youngest up here to live with me. She's been without a full time mom since she was 10 and she turns 16 on the 4th. It's time to get back together and see her through the rest of her high school days. We miss each other terribly. Dad's fine but a girl needs her mom!

I'll continue with this blog and get back to my Sabian Writing Challenges after the 6th when I have more time to invest in each daily "assignment."

If a child comes at this late age, so be it, were ready but if it's not in the great universal plan, were ready for that reality that Rubble here is going through the change! TMI!? I've noticed all kinds of changes personally, physically etc... it's bound to happen when you are 5 years shy of half a century!

That's the game plan going into '07 anyway! Check back in 12 months!
And stay tuned!

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL MY BLOG FRIENDS!!!

-pr- NAMASTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PS) HAPPY NEW YEAR TO Mr. Ornery! It's already next year in NZ!!!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM PRETTY RUBBLE

I haven't fallen off the face of the earth! I'm still here! My kids have been keeping me pretty busy and my youngest, my soon to be Sweet 16-er (Jan. 4th!!) likes to use my MacBook...ALOT! So I haven't been around much! But after they leave on the 7th I'll be back, full force!

In the meantime...thank you so much for all your warm thoughts and comments about my last post! All I can say is WOW, I can not stress enough to take tons of fotos and "movies" of your kids, one day they too will come to appreciate them as I have been doing with my homemovies and to think, I had to wait over 20 years to see some of them and in some cases it was the first time ever and now I have the unedited (raw versions) on my own laptop!!!! And as I mentioned a few days ago, fiance will be spending the next couple of months editing each reel and making it extra special for me as he did the first one!

So...how is everyone going to be spending their NY Eve??

I can't wait to get back to my regular blogging! Until then, I'm reading yours when I can, commenting where I can and thinking of how my vote is gonna' swing for the Blogstream Awards!!! (see Lucy's blog for details!) Man, it's hard...I want to vote for like 5 different bloggers for each catagory! It's tough-all this decidin'!

-pr-

PS)My new ICON...when it shows up is me looking at an old ballet photo of myself-circa '78 when I was also SWEET 16. Along with looking at all those old home movies, I also waxed nostalgic tonite with my old dance photos mom took! Funny, when mom was taking them, I used to get sooo embarrassed! because "NOBODY ELSE'S MOM IS IN THE STUDIO TAKING PHOTOS ALL THE TIME...MOM!!!!" now of course, I am soo glad she did. God rest her soul...and her camera!

THE BEST GIFT I EVER RECEIVED....

Have you ever seen Chevy Chase as Clark Griswold in Christmas Vacation? Remember the scene where he's stuck in the attic and so he hunkers down, wrapped in old clothes watching home movies...remember the tears? The smiles?

On Christmas Eve I received the best, most personal gift anyone has EVER given me. My fiance presented me with the first of several dvds containing home movies. Some were of my parents a decade before I came along but most were of me as an 8, 9 and 10 year old.

Many I had never seen, some I had seen maybe 20 years ago. Seeing my parents that young and moving, laughing, smiling...it brought me to tears. My father and mother have been dead over 18 years.

Seeing me as a hammy, silly kid, mugging for the camera was surreal. I vacillated between laughing at myself and feeling sad wondering, "What happened to that little girl." I know, she's still inside me, deep down.

What made this miraculous (speaking of miracles) is because over the past 23 years several things have happened: 1.)my stepmother took many of my dad's things up with her when she moved back up north, after dad died, 2.)I had a car fire in '84 and it was en route to a storage unit to unload a lot of personal affects from childhood and teen years, 3.)I moved three different times and 4.) things just have a way of finding their way into the Bermuda Triangle!

BUT one thing that I was able to retain, my home movies. Somehow, someway, God protected those valuable things. But I never kept them safe-hell for 14 years they were up in a hotcrawl space in my FL home. They were never stored properly.

When fiance went to collect them up from the study this June, where I had placed them when I moved up here, he smelled them, luckily they didn't smell of vinegar. (A VERY BAD SIGN FILM WISE!) Then he shipped them off to the same people who take care of all those "Turner Classics" They cleaned them up, brightened them and did other magical things to restore them and then put them on dvd and sent them back to fiance. (Thankfully, fiance knows people-has connections)

Having a side job in post production, he was able to then over the past 6 weeks edit and add music, bells and whistles to the first hours worth. He has many more to go and slowly, over the next year he will continue to work on this project.

For the past 17 years I have wanted to see them but never had a projector and then when computers came along, I wondered if there was a way we could save them but never had the time or means or wisdom.

God found the right man for the job-and it didn't hurt that I love him! He spent well over 100 hours doing this first dvd, all while still having to do two other jobs and take care of the finances of the home. He is remarkable.

Our other project next year is to further aid me in recapturing the past and solving some personal mysteries as we look for my biological mother.

As I get older all of this becomes more important.

I had a wonderful time with all my kids! All around it was an AWESOME Christmas.

Made more special by a man that has proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that he loves me. And who doesn't want to know we are loved.

 MERRY CHRISTMAS FROM PRETTY RUBBLE!!!

I was fortunate enough to have a little story printed in our local newspaper on Dec. 23rd, 1989. I lived in the Tampa Bay area at the time and it never ever snowed that far south! But this one day in '89 it did! I woke up, looked outside and we saw little flurries! It was crazy! I opened the door, zipped out to enjoy it for a minute and grabbed the newspaper off the lawn while I was out there.

Over my morning coffee, I opened my paper and read my memory in print:

WALKING TO CHURCH IN GERMANY- One of the happiest Christmas memories of my childhood involves my dad, mom and me when I was 9 years old. Talk about picturesque! Black velvet sky, falling snow, twinkling stars and crunching under our feet.

Dad was stationed in Grafenwohr, Germany and our church was on base well within walking distance. because of it's closeness, other families also chose to walk to Midnight Mass.

What a sight it was to see families coming out of their apartments and homes at quarter of midnight; father's carrying kids on their shoulders, couples arm-in-arm, big brothers lobbing snowballs at their younger siblings.

And here we were, just the three of us, walking hand in hand. Looking back some 18 years later, it seems that the warmth of our insulated coats and fur-lined boots failed to match the warmth we generated by our love for each other- a simple little family, almost 5,000 miles away from home.

(The caption under the photo of daughter and I reads, "Pretty Rubble undoubtedly will tell daughter Miss Virgo, 2, about Christmas in Germany."- What a shame, I really haven't yet, but tonite, 17 years later, I will [hah! But will my now 19 year old fully appreciate it?])

-pr- Namaste and God Bless!
