Pretty Rubble: One Woman's Story

 Blog-A-Licious!!!

Yesterday, in a comment to Deeej, I described Blogstream's blogs as being like a "veritable buffet" of dishes, both main and side as well as desserts (and let's throw in drinks, both adult and non alcoholic!) that I enjoy on a somewhat regular basis. I go to one blog and get a taste of this....I go to another blog and get a plate of that etc...

If you were to liken your blog to something on the buffet table, what would it be?

Mine? Well, I think I would describe mine as Sushi! Granted, not everyone's cup of (green) tea...

...kinda' bland on it's own (safe, unassuming, non-confrontational) but peppered with soy sauce and spiced with a little wasabi! (sometimes naughty or 'spicy' language and innuendo!)

Now if I bellied up to the buffet table (aka YOUR BLOG!), what would I be tasting, nibbling, sipping and/or savoring?!
SUSHI

"Is that the big azz sushi you just made or are ya' just glad to see me!?"

 Blog You Very Much!

Something interesting happened today and yesterday that have something to do with each other. There is a slight element of synchronicity between the two events. Let me explain.

Just yesterday I was reading one of my fav. blog authors, Sherry of Sherry's Cherrys and she wrote a fantastic blog about blogging! Especially aimed at the newbies. I said it had inspired me to do my own post about the topic. And I also told her that as is my m.o., whenever I'm inspired by any of YOU wonderful people out there, I always give you credit. Just recently, I have had Polar Bear, CM and Secret to thank for a few of my posts! They were my muses of sorts!

So now I must thank Sherry! Although the post is not exactly as I had envisioned it yesterday! The direction will be different.

The other event was that another blogger asked me how I got into blogging.

So I guess that's the heavens telling me to write about blogging!? Or is it that Mercury, the planet of communications is going into Gemini, the sign of writing in just a few short hours! But I digress!

So here it is...THE BLOG POST!

Thank you! Thank you everyone for being so nice! I've been doing this since Oct. 1st, 2006 and not once has anyone ever had an unkind word. (there was that itty bitty incident where I kinda' stood up too fast and got in the middle of someone else's fray and then ducked, ran and took a hiatus for several months but that's it! No scars! No gunpowder wounds! Hey, sometimes that happens in real life too, you kinda' show up at the wrong time and OW! collateral damage!

Thank you to the following for entertaining me, making me laugh, making me think, making me cry even, making me puke (you know who you are Misty! LOL Mondays will never be the same! )

This is NOT a goodbye....just a thank you! And astrologically, this is the NEW MOON, a time when we start new things and send out our intentions into the universe so...with that being said,...my INTENTION is to thank those that add or have added to my days with their humor, their words of wisdom and spirit!

 WHEN I GROW UP

The first time I ever can remember wanting to "be something" when I grew up was when I was around 7 years old...I wanted to write books about rocks! I wrote my own very child-like books to be sure! I wish I still had them!

As a new little 6th grader, one of our first writing assignments was to write a paper on what we wanted to do when we graduated high school. Are you kidding...that was 7 years off!! But you know? I KNEW! I wanted to be a psychologist AND a disc jockey.

When I was in 9th I changed that to a dance teacher and an English teacher.

What did I end up being? A dance teacher/performer for over 20 years and a preschool teacher for 7 (with an assortment of odd jobs throughout.)

When I was 23 I started dreaming of being a professional astrologer.

At around 33 or so, I thought I wanted to try voice over work (I dream of being a famous Disney, now PIXAR(!) character voice!!)

I really haven't changed all that much...I still want to write (just not about rocks!)I still dream of hearing my voice on the radio. My psychology is in the form of astrological readings for friends and several of you here in the Stream.

I haven't ventured too far away from where my first interests were.

What about you? What did you want to do when you "grew up" and what did you end up doing? And finally...if you could do anything you wanted...what would you actually do for a career? Do you have a calling? Mine was always to teach, inspire and communicate. I was blessed to have been able to spend many years doing both. I want to continue but in a new form.

Your turn!

Let The Music Take You There....

The other day I was listening to my new Herb Alpert And The Tiajuana Brass CD. Those songs just absolutely take me back to my childhood. And while I heard a lot of different styles of music growing up,(pop, folk, classical etc..) there's something about this particular band; their music --that instantly transport me to a fantastic time in my life. When I hear Herb, especially his early work, I think of my dad. I know Mothers Day is right around the corner but I just felt inspired today, to honor my father with this post.

What song(s) take you back to a sweeter, more innocent time and place?

m.

PS) Here's a photo of dad and me...October 31st, 1968...oh yeh, Halloween was over and the fun was done and dad (still fresh from a hard day of doing his Master Sargent-y things, still wearing his green Army pants...) has a "chat" with lil' Rubble/Michele about the less than stellar report card I had brought home earlier that day! ...oh well, he finished up his talk with a hug...that was my dad! And I'm sure playing in the background, on the hi-fi was...."Tiajuana Taxi" or "The Lonely Bull"!
xoxo Dad...I miss you!
