Pretty Rubble: One Woman's Story

 For Mom
Back to Full Blog

It's been 26 years since I last saw you, touched you, heard your distinctive voice...

I love you and miss you and still think about you, almost every day.

Happy Mothers Day to all my fellow MOMS and GMA's out there in the Stream!

My Mom'isms (what are yours??) "Make it work for you." ... "Consider it dinner."... "Is it gonna' cost me time, money or energy?"... "Next subject."... "Bite, chew and swallow."... "Eat it or where it on your head." (I stole those last two from my Army dad!)

*Remember to keep Crone and Shadow/L. Cat, Chris and Twink in our hearts and minds.

Michele aka Rubble

Have a great Mother's Day Rubble !!

Some of my known sayings to the kids are -
"Life's not fair, live with it"
"This isn't a restauraunt"
When one gets hurt but I know it's a bit of over drama on their part - "I see no blood, you're fine"
"We don't own stock in the electric company"
"Keep your hands to yourself or mine are going to find a way to your butt" (Yes, I spank my kids on a rare occasion, veryyyyy rare lol )

I'm sure there are sooooooo many more, but can't actually think of them until the situation arises to use them lol

Anyways, hope everyone has a great day tomorrow!

Rubble,
Thank You for keeping us in your thoughts and prayers. I appreciate that VERY much.

~A Mothers Love Determines How~

A mother's love determines how
We love ourselves and others.
There is no sky we'll ever see
Not lit by that first love.

Stripped of love, the universe
Would drive us mad with pain;
But we are born into a world
That greets our cries with joy.

How much I owe you for the kiss
That told me who I was!
The greatest gift--a love of life--
Lay laughing in your eyes.

Because of you my world still has
The soft grace of your smile;
And every wind of fortune bears
The scent of your caress.

Michele,
Here's hoping your brood remember you with lots of love on this Mother's Day as you treasure the memories of your mom.

I love your 'isms!" I bet between all the moms and grandmas in the Stream, we could come up with a whole book of 'em! And if you HAD a mom, you know you heard them from her. Sadly, I don't remember any of my mom's but I'm sure she had her pat expressions...wait, OMG, I just recalled one, just now! "Don't you dare contradict me in public!"

Nice one mom!

OH OH! I just thought of another one of mine!!!! And you sparked the memory (since my kids aren't with me like they used to be, I forget!)

"NO BLOOD, NO FOUL!" Sound familiar!!

And I got spankings...mom with her hand, dad with a ruler (on very rare occasions tho'....he was like Mr. Spock when he'd dole out that harsh punishment...very logical!

Well, my oldest Mr. O is 21 and I'm like the last thing on her mind...she is in NC with two jobs and a boyfriend...but maybe she'll call...who knows. My other two are in FL and maybe they'll call...I know my youngest daughter will. I get to finally see them next month after not seeing them since the holidays. I can't wait!

Thanks for popping in! (I almost typed, pooping in! )

It's winter where you are...FREAKY!!!

My blog title is my favorite Momism. She used to tell me to let a Smile be my umbrella on a rainy day because raindrops make things beautiful.

Rubble - my mom would remind me that she had to walk and carry a lard pail lunch box with a sandwich of homemade bread and lard so I shold be thank for everything I have no matter how little - I did not arrpeciate that lesson until an adult but it sure is true - be thankful for what you do have not what you wish you had - June

Rubble,
Well our day is finally here, Mothers Day! I'm in such a good mood, because Shadow moves from ICU to a regular room today. That's where I'm heading to in a bit for the day. I posted something different, the meaning and where Mothers day came/started from. You might enjoy it. Have a good day!

Speaking of raindrops...we've had 'em all day! And it's been cool here in DC. But, as we needed the rain, it was o.k. And I love the sound of it.

Your mommy was right Sherry...about raindrops!

m.

Hope you had a LOVEly Sunday...emphasis on LOVE.

Thanks Tink...mine was low keyed as my kids are in NC and FL..just fiance and me...this was his first without his mom so I'm sure it was a bit sad, although he didn't let on.

Me...well, I've had longer to adjust.

But my kids did call so, it's cool!

I'll see them in a month.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope YOUR Sunday was filled with LOVE.

I think being an only kid Dalpha (and a pretty well behaved one at that)...saved me from hearing that one...but I know it's a popular one....hey, wait...I had three young kids awhile back...I'm sure, come to think of it..I USED IT!!! I don't remember, but I'm sure I musta'!

But my mom DID use the other trite one..."I'll GIVE you something to cry about!"

And the other one she'd use with me..."Stop WHINING!"

Who me?

I was a whiner?

Thats sad about your fiance. I sent my mom a card and it made her cry, and my dad bought us a bunch of pizza. So it was pretty good even though I had to work at the hell hole. lol.
